Changing Lives... Many former band students say membership in band changed their lives. Most graduating seniors express a desire to remain involved, in some small way, with the PLD Band program that they poured their heart and soul into while they were students. In an effort to meet that need, we have created the PLD Band Alumni Community. We would love for you to stay involved with the band in a way that works for you. Please come support the band during home football games, competitions, concerts, and special events. Of course, monetary support is always welcomed and appreciated, but so is the moral support of our prestigious alumni.

Your donation is crucial. Things have changed since you were in marching band. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound effect on the band, like it has across our society. Here are some of the many challenges we are dealing with:
- Our primary method of fundraising, Bingo, is no longer feasible. This is primarily due to lower Bingo attendance from COVID-19.
- Finding box trucks to transport uniforms, props and instruments has become very difficult. One day rentals are almost impossible, meaning we are forced to rent trucks on a long-term basis. This comes at incredible expense to the band.
- Teenagers eat a lot! The band provides several meals for students, which have become increasingly more expensive due to inflation.
- Being in the band is expensive. We ask all families to donate $550 per year, which many families simply cannot afford. We recently instituted a tiered contribution system so families can contribute at the level that they can afford. Your donation will help us support students by covering a part of their contribution.
- Fundraising via selling fruit, cheese & sausage, wrapping paper, and similar methods is a major chore. It takes time away from practice and other musical education. Your donation will allow us to simply be a band so that we don't have to constantly worry about fundraising.
- The Dunbar Band Parents Association has committed to provide an excellent musical education regardless of a student's ability to pay. Your donation directly supports this commitment.
