PLD BAND FUNDRAISING
The quality band program that we have come to expect from Dunbar is expensive. The Band receives very minimal financial support from the Fayette County Board of Education. Fundraising efforts by the Band Parents Association (BPA) and the members of the band provide the necessary funds to support the Band’s activities. The entire band program at PLD benefits from these funds, which are used to pay for such things as sheet music, instruments and instrument repair, other equipment, uniforms, instruction, and other administrative support. In addition, the funds raised by the PLD Band Parents Association pays for all transportation to assessments and contests and off-campus performances, food, lodging at contests, entry fees, and award patches.

SEASONAL FUNDRAISERS
All fundraising activities are for the ENTIRE BAND.  We all benefit from the funds raised because we get our music, instrument repairs, buses, uniforms, and so much more from these funds.  All we ask is that everyone do their best and participate to help support the band.

Band Camp Pledges
We will kick-off our fundraising with a pledge drive for band camp. Emails will be sent in July. Click here for the pledge sheet and poem.

Pancake Breakfast
We will be hosting a Pancake Breakfast to kick-off band camp and start another amazing marching season. Watch your email for more details.

Car Washes
Each grade is responsible to work on a Saturday for the car washes held in July: Sophomores/Juniors work one Saturday and Freshmen/Seniors work a different Saturday.  Car washes are 9-3 at the O'Charley's on Harrodsburg Road. Sign up on CHARMS for your slots.  Watch your email for more information.

Cheese, Sausage, & Candle Sale
The fundraiser will begin right after school is back in session.  We will be selling cheese, sausage, candles and cookies.  This has been a successful fundraiser for many years.

Fruit, coffee, and tea
Again this year we will be selling navel oranges, grapefruit, and tangelos from Florida Indian River Groves.  We will also sell assorted items from the Lexington Coffee and Tea Company.   This fundraiser will kick off in October.  Orders will arrive the second week in December.

Old KY Chocolates
We have two weeks during the school year where we can sell candy bars during the school day.  We ask each student to sell one bag.

Plant sale in April
We have had great success with this in the last few years and we are hoping it will ‘grow’ even larger this year.  The plants come from Country Place Nursery in Springfield, KY and they are beautiful.

YEAR-ROUND FUNDRAISERS
The band holds year round fundraising events that also earn money. Planned events for the upcoming year include:

Jackpot Bingo
This is one of our biggest fundraisers that runs every Thursday, all year long. Parents help sell bingo sheets, computers, organize pull-tabs, and even call the numbers. Students walk the floor selling pull-tabs and promoting our wonderful organization. All band students are expected to work ten (10) evenings of BINGO and their parents are asked to work four (4) evenings. With 52 weeks of BINGO, that should be easy for all of us to do.

Kroger Plus Shopper's Card
PLD Band receives money when you use your Kroger Plus card IF you have registered it with our account. Go to krogercommunityrewards.com and create your online account, add your plus card number and enter our organization (10087). Then we will earn money every time you shop!
